How to Host a Christmas Cookie Exchange
A cookie exchange is one of the easiest Christmas parties to host: everyone brings cookies, everyone leaves with a box of different ones. Here's how to keep it organized.
Invite 6 to 12 bakers
Ask each person to bring a dozen cookies per guest, or a set number like six dozen, plus copies of their recipe.
Use a sign-up sheet
This is the step most hosts skip, and it's why there are four plates of sugar cookies. Have people write down what they're bringing.
Label every plate
Name of the cookie, who baked it, and checkboxes for nuts, dairy, gluten and eggs.
Vote for favorites
Tastiest, Prettiest, Most Creative and Best Classic. Give the winners a certificate.
Send everyone home with recipes
Recipe cards plus boxes or tins, with a tag on each.
